I've been filleting aloe for the gel to make juice lately and ending up with piles of skin.
Besides having a laxative effect is there any other reason not to eat it? Is it beneficial in any way?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
The laxative part of the leaf is the thin yellow layer between the green leaf and the inner gelled flesh. If you just scrape out the gelled flesh then you can consume this for its soothing effect on the digestive system and for its immune stimulating polysaccharides. And this way it will not have a stimulant laxative effect.
For anyone who has any autoimmune disorders though it is best to avoid sources of immune stimulating polysaccharides since they can aggravate these conditions.
