Supplements for bipolar
Bipolar is a tricky condition to deal with. The disorder is caused from a sodium shift in the brain neurons. Lithium is more reactive than sodium and helps to displace it, but it is also hard on the liver. Potassium is also more reactive than sodium, but it cannot be taken in high doses since it can cause heart issues.

It has been found that magnesium supplementation is beneficial for bipolar. This is most likely due to the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) increasing effect of magnesium. ATP is the "fuel" for the cells and helps them to operate properly. I recommend magnesium malate since the malic acid (malate) also increases ATP formation. Stay away from magnesium oxide/hydroxide since it is poorly absorbed and damaging to the tissues. Recommended dose is 300mg magnesium malate 3 times daily.
