castor oil packs for health
Hi,

my doctor is reccommending me to use castor oil packs for GI and liver health ... what is your opinion, on how ricinoleic acid works in the body, is it safe and effective, or otherwise??

It seems like it might be good, but I dont know.

I have never looked in to castor oil packs. From what little I have heard the principle was based on channeling by psychic Edgar Cayce. Although there is no real evidence that it has any effect. The few studies that indicate some possible effect are too vague to determine what is really causing any effects. In some cases it could simply be the application of a warm compress enhancing circulation. There is nothing indicating any active component actually being absorbed and having an effect.

RE: castor oil packs for health
I've seen health people recommend them many times and I've tried them a few times but I never noticed them being worth my time or effort.

What do I do for liver health?
Organic coffee enemas, at least once a week, more often in needed
Homeopathic liver formula Tincture
Exercise
Coconut oil
Monolaurin

Coffee enemas are very hard on the adrenals so I do not recommend them.

I prefer digestive bitters, foods or herbs high in B vitamins and liver supporting herbs such as turmeric and milk thistle.
