Thoughts on any alternatives for treating hypercalcemia
Thoughts on any alternatives for treating hypercalcemia, aside from the obvious?

One of the most common reasons for hypercalcemia is hyperparathyroidism. Hyperparathyrodism is most often a result of vitamin D deficiency. So I would focus on vitamin D through sunlight and/or supplements. Keep the liver and kidneys functioning properly as well since both are required for the conversion of vitamin D in to its most active form. Herbs that help support the liver and kidneys include bitters, nettle leaf, schisandra berry and fo ti (he shou wu).

Silica supplementation is also helpful since silica moves calcium out of the blood in to the bone. Exercise is required for this process since it is the stressing of the bones that compresses the silica causing the electrodeposition of calcium in to the bone's collagen matrix.

Magnesium supplementation can help counter some of the adverse effects of the elevated serum calcium. I prefer magnesium malate. Avoid magnesium oxide/hydroxide.
