Blackstrap molasses is this good? - hkw53 - 11-24-2013 06:29 PM

James,
I just read that Blackstrap molasses was really healthy? It said to take 2 tables per day because it was loaded with minerals.
Do you take this, do you think this is a good idea?

Thanks

No, I will not take it. One issue is that it is high in iron and men especially are prone to iron overload. So are non-menstruating females.

Iron overload can feed various pathogens, contribute to cancer and increase oxidative damage to tissues. For more details research what happens in cases of hemochromatosis.

There are much better mineral sources such as seaweeds, alfalfa herb or nettle leaf, which are lower in iron and contain iron that is not as easily absorbed.
