What is the difference between De-Glycyrrhizinated Licorice and Licorice root? - James - 07-04-2012 04:02 AM

What is the difference between De-Glycyrrhizinated Licorice root or only Licorice root?

DGL licorice root is simple licorice root with the steroidal compound removed.

What is the best form of licorice root supp?

I prefer regular licorice root since it provides more properties. And the whole thing about the steroidal component of licorice root raising blood pressure is somewhat misleading. It can do this, but it takes over 50 grams over 6 months to raise blood pressure. That is the equivalent of a full bottle of licorice root capsules daily for over 6 months.

Regular licorice root though needs to be used with caution if on certain medications though such as steroids like Prednisone.
